Submission Preparation Checklist

Abstract
This document contains author guidelines for preparation of manuscript for the EMU-Journal of Faculty of Architecture (EMU-JFA). It defines the layout and formatting of papers. The title page should include the title, name and contact details of the author/s. The abstract must be between 200-250 words. The abstract should explain the aims, objectives and major conclusions of the paper. The designation of five keywords in both languages are essential. Please ensure that keywords are informative of the manuscript’s topic and content. Following the keywords, total number of words in the manuscript (inclusive of all sections) should be mentioned. 1   Main Text

Main text, which is structured under sequentially and hierarchically numbered sections and subsections, must not exceed 6000 words without abstracts, keywords and reference list. The article must be typed, single-spaced, in Times New Roman 11pt on A4 paper with 2.5 cm (1 inch) margins from all sides. All pages must be numbered for the peer-review process. All tables and figures must be included in the mail text. Notes must be numbered as [1], [2] to be listed at the end of the main text. All kind of information which may reveal author credentials must be avoided including any symbols, etc. that can be related to authors’ identity in tables and figures. For total anonymity which is the prerequisite of double-blind peer review, citing to previous works of authors must appear with concealed names of authors and publication in main text citations and reference list. These changes can be corrected after acceptance.

2   Keywords

The designation of five keywords in both languages are essential. Please ensure that keywords are informative of the manuscript’s topic and content. Following the keywords, total number of words in the manuscript (inclusive of all sections) should be mentioned.

2.1           Illustrations (Tables, Figures, etc.): 

All figures and tables should be cited in the main text as Figure 1, Table 1, etc. The captions of the tables must be written on the top, and references and explanations related to the diagrams and pictures must be written below. Lettering and symbols should be clearly defined either in the caption or in a legend provided as part of the figure. Leave one line space between the paragraphs and the figures. Figures should be placed at the top or bottom of a page wherever possible, as close as possible to the first reference to them in the paper.

Illustrations must be submitted in separate image files. All pictures, maps and graphs must be in JPG format and not less than 300 dpi. Photos should be scanned as multi-color (8 bit color). The width of the pictures is at least 14.5 cm, the height is free. All tables, graphs and line drawings should be in rich text form or .doc format using Word or Excel original programs. Please only use greyscale (no color). When necessary, permission letter from copyright owner must be presented for the cited illustrations.

 

 Acknowledgments: If included, acknowledgments should appear before the list of references.

Referencing and Citations

References must appear in complete accordance with the latest version of APA Style Referencing Guidelines in http://www.apastyle.org/ including upper and lower case and punctuation rules. The in-text citation must identify the cited work by surnames of authors and date of publication between parentheses. Citing quoted verbatim text from another source must include page numbers. References must be listed alphabetically and for same authors chronologically.

Web site sources should be given as date accessed in parentheses after the website.
