Stereotypes are cognitive structures, whose perception includes our beliefs and expectations about social groups. Gender mainstreaming stereotypes gave birth to gender mainstreaming expectations, and these expectations do perceptual filter task toward others. People divide the world into many different social groups through the classification process and develop a cognitive structure which involves their knowledge, beliefs and expectations about these social groups. The objective of this study is to focus on whether stereotypes have any impact on ensuring gender equality, what these stereotypes are and how they may be changed. It will be focused on how self-fulfilling prophecy will change inequality to equality. In the study, a questionnaire conducted on the internet for university students. Total forty-two stereotypes questions were asked to the participants. Ideas for stereotypes were shown in arithmetic means. The results of the study reveal that some stereotypes are changing over time and some others still exhibit patriarchal features.
