Son zamanlarda tartışmaya açılan İstanbul Sözleşmesi, 6284 sayılı koruma kanunu ile kadına yönelik şiddete karşı koruma sağlama rolünü yeterince yerine getirmiyorken, kadınlar bizleri hayattayken koruyun diye isyan etmekteler. Yasa her ne kadar koruma kanunu olarak bilinse de adli mercilerce yeterince uygulamaya geçmemekle ve kadınlar yaşarken onları korumamakla eleştirilmektedir.
